The Circle K robbery
North Charleston police arrested Jason Cory Ogburn, 48, on Friday and charged him with armed robbery and possession of a weapon during a violent crime. Police say he walked into a Circle K on Ashley Phosphate Road around 12:14 p.m., showed what looked like a firearm, demanded the register, took cash and left.
Detectives and patrol officers worked the case together and named Ogburn as the suspect before the arrest. For c-store operators the story is routine and grim at once. A daytime forecourt holdup with a lone clerk and a fast exit is a reminder that the risk window is not just the overnight shift.
The forecourt security math has not changed. Cameras and drop safes cut losses more than any single deterrent, and the cases that get solved tend to be the ones where the footage is clean and the response is quick. Circle K's parent runs thousands of US sites, so one armed robbery does not make a trend.
What to watch
Watch whether Washington's summer prices draw a state-level response or just more talk radio. If lawmakers or the governor's office weigh in on fuel costs, that could signal policy movement worth pricing into West Coast supply planning.
